Junee GE CH

A mirrored meeting between a violin and a theremin, two voices, two synthesizers.

An intimate research on the duo formation, drifting off into imaginary lands sometimes obscure, sometimes celestial.

The point of friction between experimental and pop opens doors to in-between worlds, melodious stories of non-places and sound creaks.

Fhunyue and Zoé’s collaboration was born in summer 2020 during a carte blanche at Bongo Joe (CH). Realising the creative and multidisciplinary affinities specific to their individual performing arts practices, the desire was born to create together over the long term. After a residency at the Théâtre 2.21 organised by the Association du Salopard (CH), they presented a theatrical performance around movement in music. Then the musical aspect of the duo developed during a concert at Cave 12 (CH) in 2021.

The desire is to deepen the exciting facets specific to a duo formation. The intense listening directed towards each other, the possibilities of improvisation and accompaniment which result from it, the presence and the sharing sustained by two. Therefore the decision to limit the instrumentation: in mirror, each one plays with her voice, a monophonic instrument and a synthesizer.

The name Junee was born after an intense encounter with a flying pine tree on a stormy road, and is a tribute to this fortuitous day of escaped death.
