In his solo performance For Perfect Realism, Marcel Zaes uses an oldschool waveform generator that has been used as an audio tester for military and electro engineering purposes.

This piece of apparatus serves him as the single sound source. Due to the generator’s old age, the simple analogue waveforms are impure and constantly slightly out of tune. Zaes samples these waveforms with a digital system in realtime, allowing a dense and rough beat music with an analogue charm to emerge. While the numerous layers of this music follow an abstract rhythmic structure, the composite result is nevertheless a groovy, if not danceable music, which is equally performed in art galleries, concert spaces and clubs.
