Born in Basel in 1976, Daniel Buess is a drummer, percussionist and experimental musician whose work assume a wide diversity of musical forms and directions from contemporary music to improvised music, to noise and rock-influenced bands.

He was and is still involved in various groups and Ensembles like “Ensemble Phœnix Basel” of which he is a core-member and solo-percussionist since its foundation in 1998, MIR (active since 2005 with Papiro and Yanik Soland), “CORTEX” (with Alex Buess since 1999), « My Daily Noise » (with Kasper Toeplitz since 2013), Buggatronic (with the Australian sound-artist James Hullick) or the legendary noise pioneers “16-17”.

His numorous collaborations include artists like Zbigniew Karkowski, Antoine Chessex, Kasper T.Toeplitz, John Duncan, Alan Courtis, James Hullick, Knut Remond, Phill Niblock, Stephan Wittwer, Robert Piotrowicz, Tim Hodgkinson, Iancu Dumitrescu, Z’EV and many others.

At his regular tours through Europe, Asia and Australia, he performed at the most highly recognised festivals for experimental music as well as at several underground-places, open spaces and independent venues.
